The Competition

On paper, many of the STR eligible cars listed below seem like a good choice, but reality is cruel and a full build and competent driver would be needed to know for sure.  Tire choice is a major determining factor because not all cars can maximize the allowed tire width of 255mm and not all brands may be available in the best size to suit each particular car and it's gearing.  The mid and rear engine cars should put power down well and have a small advantage at a Pro Solo.  A couple of the cars have big engines with plenty of useable torque, but may carry extra weight and width relative to their competition.  Many will autox their daily driver, so an old Datsun or Fiero may not be practical.  Early chatter about the class says a rare porsche 911 would be an expensive class killer but nobody has built one yet.  It seems like the most popular car in  the class is the AP2 Honda S2000, closely followed by the MX5.
